Brake Pedal Freeplay

1. Stop engine and depress brake pedal several times to reduce vacuum in the booster.
2. Push pedal until resistance is felt. Measure distance, Fig. 6.

3. If pedal freeplay is not 0.04-0.24 inch on ES300, GS300, SC300 and SC400 and 1995-96 LS400 or 0.12-0.20 inch on 1993-94 LS400 models, check stoplight switch clearance as described under Brake Pedal Height. If stoplight clearance is satisfactory, troubleshoot the brake system.
