Seat Belt: Service and Repair

FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

CAUTION:
When removing the seat belt pretensioner, always place it on a flat, stable surface.

NOTICE:
- If the seat belt pretensioner has been dropped or damaged. replace It with a new one.
- Never install a seat belt pretensioner which has been used in another vehicle. When replacing a seat belt pretensioner, always install a new one.

1. Remove center pillar garnish
2. Lock the sensor





(a) Push the safety lock button with a screwdriver to lock the sensor.





(b) Check that the safety lock release lever is at the lock position in the illustration.
3. Remove seat belt lap outer anchor
(a) Put the seat at maximum forward position and at maximum height.





(b) Remove the belt anchor cover.
(c) Remove the bolt and the seat belt anchor.
4. Remove front pillar garnish





(a) Remove the rear personal light.
(b) Lift up the roof side inner garnish.
(c) Remove the 5 clips and the front pillar garnish.
5. Remove front seat outer belt





Remove the 2 bolts, and nut and front seat outer belt
6. Install front seat outer belt
Install the front seat outer belt with 2 bolts and nuts.
(a) Front seat outer belt retractor
Upper bolt Torque: 7.8 Nm (80 kg/cm. 69 in/lb)
Lower bolt Torque: 43 Nm (440 kg/cm. 32 ft/lb)
(b) Seat belt shoulder anchor nut
Torque: 43 Nm (440 kg/cm. 32 ft/lb)
7. Install front pillar garnish
8. Install rear personal light
9. Install seat belt lap outer anchor
Torque: 43 Nm (440 kg/cm. 32 ft/lb)
10. Install belt anchor cover





11. Unlock the sensor
Operate the safety lock release lever as shown in the illustration and unlock the sensor.

NOTICE: You cannot install the center pillar garnish unless the sensor is unlocked.

12. Install center pillar garnish
