Injection Volume
NOTE: Refer to Fuel Injector service procedures.Service and Repair
WARNING: Keep injector clear of sparks during the test.
1. INSPECT INJECTOR INJECTION.
- Disconnect the fuel inlet hose from the fuel tube.
- Connect SST (hose) to the fuel inlet tube with SST (union). Tighten the flare nut on the fuel tube.
- (SST 09268-41045 - EFI Test Kit)
Torque: 30 N.m (310 kgf.cm, 22 ft.lb)
- Loosen the lock nut, and remove the pressure regulator from the RH delivery pipe.
- Connect SST (hose) to the pressure regulator with SST (union).
- (SST 09268-41045 (09268-52010))
- Tighten the lock nut on the pressure regulator.
Torque: 29 Nm (22 ft.lb)
- Connect the fuel return hose to the fuel outlet of the pressure regulator.
- Install the grommet and 0-ring to the injector.
- Connect hose* to the injector with union*, and hold the injector and union with clamp*.
* From SST 09268-41045 - Injection Measuring Tool Set
- Put the injector into the graduated cylinder.
HINT: Install a suitable vinyl hose onto the injector to prevent gasoline from splashing out.
With LEXUS hand-held tester
- Connect the LEXUS hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and LEXUS hand-held tester main switch ON.
NOTICE: Do not start the engine.
- Select the active test mode on the LEXUS hand-held tester.
- Please refer to the LEXUS hand-held tester operation manual for further details.
Without LEXUS hand-held tester
- If you have no LEXUS hand-held tester, connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 of the connector, and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2.
- Connect wire (SST 09842-30070) to the injector and battery for 15 seconds, and measure the injection volume with a graduated cylinder.
- Test each injector 2 or 3 times.
Volume: 55 - 70 cm3 (3.4 - 4.3 cu in.) per 15 sec.
Difference between each injector: 10 cm3 (0.6 cu in.) or less
- If the injection volume is not as specified, replace the injector.
2. INSPECT LEAKAGE.
- In the condition above, disconnect the test probes of SST (wire) from the battery and check the fuel leakage from the injector.
Fuel drop: One drop or less per minute
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.
- Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.
- Remove the SST union, hoses and clamp from the injector.
- Reconnect the fuel inlet hose to the fuel tube using SST 09631-22020 or equivalent.
Torque: 30 Nm (22 ft.lb)
HINT: Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 30cm (11.81 in.).
- Reinstall the fuel pressure regulator to the RH delivery pipe.
- Disconnect the LEXUS hand-held tester from the DLC3.
- Check fuel system for leaks.
