Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. REMOVE AIR INTAKE CHAMBER ASSEMBLY.
2. DISCONNECT FUEL INLET HOSE FROM LH DELIVERY PIPE.
3. DISCONNECT VACUUM SENSING HOSE AND FUEL RETURN HOSE FROM PRESSURE REGULATOR.
4. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE FROM DELIVERY PIPES.



- Remove the 2 bolts holding the engine wire to the RH delivery pipe.
- Disconnect the 4 injector connectors.
- Disconnect these parts from the bracket on the LH delivery pipe:



1. DLC1
2. 2 engine wire connectors
3. Engine wire clamp
- Disconnect the 4 injector connectors.

5. REMOVE DELIVERY PIPES AND INJECTORS.



- Remove the 4 nuts holding the delivery pipe to the intake manifold.
- Remove the 2 connector brackets, the 2 delivery pipes and 8 injector assembly, 4 spacers and 8 insulators.

NOTICE: Be careful not to drop the injectors, when removing the delivery pipe.

- Pull out the 8 injectors from the delivery pipes.
- Remove the 0-ring and grommet from each injector.


INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL INJECTORS AND DELIVERY PIPE.



- Install a new grommet to each injector.
- Apply a light coat of gasoline to a new 0-ring and install it to each injector.




- While turning each injector clockwise and counterclockwise, push it to the delivery pipes.
- Position the injector connector outward.

- Place these parts on the intake manifold:



1. New insulators (8)
2. Spacers (4)




- Place the 8 injectors and 2 delivery pipes assembly in position on the intake manifold.
- Temporarily install the 2 connector brackets and 4 mounting bolts.




- Check that the injectors rotate smoothly.
HINT: If injectors do not rotate smoothly, the probable cause is incorrect installation of 0-rings. Replace the 0-rings.
- Position the injector connector outward.
- Tighten the 4 bolts holding the delivery pipes to the intake manifold.

Torque: 18 Nm (13 ft.lb)

2. CONNECT ENGINE WIRE TO DELIVERY PIPES.
- Connect the 4 injector connectors.
- Connect these parts to the bracket on the LH delivery pipe:



1. DLC1
2. 2 engine wire connectors
3. Engine wire clamp

- Connect the 4 injector connectors.
- Connect the engine wire to the RH delivery pipe with the 2 bolts.

3. CONNECT FUEL RETURN HOSE AND VACUUM SENSING HOSE TO PRESSURE REGULATOR.
4. CONNECT FUEL INLET HOSE TO LH DELIVERY PIPE.
5. INSTALL AIR INTAKE CHAMBER ASSEMBLY.
