Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY.




- Drain engine coolant.
- Disconnect control cables from throttle body.
- Accelerator cable
- A/T throttle control cable
- Cruise control actuator cable




- Remove intake air connector pipe.
- Disconnect these hoses:
- PS air hose from air connector pipe
- PCV hose from No. 2 cylinder head cover
- Loosen the 2 hose clamps, and remove the air connector pipe with the hoses.




- Disconnect throttle body bracket from throttle body and cylinder head.
- Remove the 4 nuts, and disconnect the throttle body bracket from the throttle body and cylinder head.

Torque: 21 N.m (210 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)




- Remove throttle body.
- Disconnect these connectors:
- Throttle position sensor connector
- w/TRAC:
Sub-throttle position sensor connector
- w/ TRAC:
Sub-throttle actuator connector
- IAC valve connector




- Disconnect these hoses:
- 4 vacuum hoses
- Air hose (from intake manifold)
- Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.

Torque: 21 N.m (210 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)




- Disconnect the water bypass hose (from the No. 2 water bypass pipe) from the clamp on the engine hanger.
- Slightly slide the throttle body away from the intake air connector.




- Disconnect these hoses:
- Water bypass hose (from water outlet)
- Water bypass hose (from No. 2 water bypass pipe)
- Remove the throttle body and gasket.




2. REMOVE IDLE AIR CONTROL (IAC) VALVE.
- Remove the 2 screws, IAC valve and O-ring.

INSTALLATION
- Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

INSTALLATION HINT: Use a new O-ring.
