Thermo Time Switch: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The cold start injector time switch, threaded into the water jacket in the front of the engine, controls the amount of time the cold start injector is allowed to operate.

OPERATION
Below 15°C (59°F), the electrical contacts in the switch are closed. As long as the contacts are closed, the cold start injector and the heating coil inside the switch are powered. As the bimetal strip is warmed by the heating coil, the contacts open and the cold start injector closes. Circuit power is supplied through the starter relay, and only while the ignition switch is in the start position. Typical operation lasts less than 8 seconds.
