Fuel Pump: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION

Fuel Pump Resistance Inspection

1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.

Resistance: 0.2 - 3.0 ohms at 20°C (68°F)

If the resistance is not as specified, replace the Fuel Pump and / or set plate.

Fuel Pump Operation Inspection

1. Connect a test lead from the terminal 1 of the connector to the positive (+) terminal of the battery; connect another test lead from the terminal 2 of the connector to the negative (-) terminal of the battery. Verify Fuel Pump operation.

NOTE: These tests must be performed quickly (within 10 seconds) to prevent the motor from burning out. Keep the fuel pump as far away from the battery as possible. Always connect or disconnect at the battery. If operation is not as specified, replace the Fuel Pump and / or set plate.
