Canister Purge Solenoid: Service and Repair
PROCEDURERemoval
1. Disconnect negative terminal cable from battery.
CAUTION: Work must be started after 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.
2. Remove intake air connector.
- Disconnect the following hoses from the intake air connector:
- Air hose (from idle air control valve)
- Air hose (from air control valve on power steering pump)
- Remove the bolt holding the intake air connector to the cylinder head cover.
- Remove the 2 hose clamps.
- Disconnect the intake air connector from the throttle body and air cleaner hose, and remove the intake air connector.
3. Remove Vacuum Switching Valve.
- Disconnect the Vacuum Switching Valve connector.
- Disconnect the following hoses from the Vacuum Switching Valve:
- Vacuum hose (from vacuum pipe) (1)
- Vacuum hose (from charcoal canister) (2)
- Remove the 2 bolts and Vacuum Switching Valve from the cylinder head.
- Disconnect the 2 wire clamps from the Vacuum Switching Valve bracket, and remove the Vacuum Switching Valve.
Assembly
1. Reinstall Vacuum Switching Valve.
- Install the Vacuum Switching Valve with the 2 bolts.
- Connect the 2 wire clamps to the Vacuum Switching Valve bracket.
- Connect the following hoses to the Vacuum Switching Valve:
- Vacuum hose (from vacuum pipe) (1)
- Vacuum hose (from charcoal canister) (2)
- Connect the Vacuum Switching Valve connector.
2. Reinstall intake air connector.
- Connect the end portions of the intake air connector to the throttle body and air cleaner hose.
- Tighten the 2 hose clamps.
- Install the bolt holding the intake air connector to the cylinder head cover.
- Connect the following hoses to the intake air connector:
- Air hose (from idle air control valve) (1)
- Air hose (from air control valve on PS pump) (2)
3. Reconnect negative terminal cable to battery.
