Inspection Procedure

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1. Check voltage between terminals B+, B+1 and E1 of Engine Control Module connector.





- Connect the Check Harness A.
- Turn Ignition Switch ON.
- Measure voltage between terminals B+, B1+ and E1 of Engine Control Module connector.

Voltage: 9 to 14 volts

- If OK proceed to DIAGNOSIS BY SYMPTOM.
- If not OK proceed to step 2.
2. Check for open in harness and connector between terminal E1 of Engine Control Module and body ground.
- If OK proceed to step 3.
- If not OK repair or replace harness or connector.
3. Check voltage between terminal IGSW of Engine Control Module connector and body ground.





- Turn Ignition Switch ON.
- Measure voltage between terminal IGSW of Engine Control Module connector and body ground.

Voltage: 9 to 14 volts

- If OK proceed to step 6.
- If not OK proceed to step 4.
4. Check IGN fuse.





- Remove IGN fuse from Junction Box No. 1.
- Check continuity of IGN fuse.

- If OK proceed to step 5.
- If not OK Check for short in the harness and all the components connected to IGN fuse.
5. Check Ignition Switch.





- Remove under cover and finish panel.
- Check continuity between terminals.





- If OK check and repair harness and connector between battery and Ignition Switch, Ignition Switch and Engine Control Module.
- If not OK replace Ignition Switch.
6. Check voltage between terminal M-REL of Engine Control Module connector and body ground.





- Turn Ignition Switch on.
- Measure voltage between terminal M-REL of Engine Control Module connector and body ground.

Voltage: 9 to 14 volts

- If OK proceed to step 7.
- If not OK check and replace Engine Control Module.
7. Check EFI fuse.





- Remove EFI fuse from Relay Box No. 2.
- Check continuity of EFI fuse.
- If OK proceed to step 8.
- If not OK check for short in the harness and all the components connected to EFI fuse.
8. Check EFI Main Relay.





- Remove EFI Main Relay from Relay Box No. 2.
- Check continuity between terminals of EFI main relay as shown.

Terminals 2 and 4; open
Terminals 1 and 3; continuity


- Apply battery voltage between terminals 1 and 3.
- Check continuity between terminals 2 and 4.

Terminals 2 and 4; continuity

- If OK proceed to step 9.
- If not OK replace EFI Main Relay.
9. Check for open and short in harness and connector between terminal M-REL of Engine Control Module and body ground.
- If OK check and repair harness or connector between EFI fuse and battery.
- If not OK repair or replace harness or connector.
