Inspection Procedure

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1. Check voltage between terminal STJ of engine control module connector and body ground.





- Connect the Check Harness A.
- Disconnect start injector time switch connector.
- Disconnect engine control module connector.
- Measure voltage between terminal STJ of engine control module connector and body ground when ignition switch is turned to STA.

Voltage: 9 - 14 volts

- If OK proceed to step 3.
- If not OK proceed to step 2.
2. Check resistance of cold start injector.





- Remove cold start injector.
- Measure resistance between terminals of cold start injector.

Resistance: 2 - 4 ohms at 2O°C (68°F)

- If OK check and repair harness and connector between engine control module and cold start injector, cold start injector and battery.
- If not OK replace cold start injector.
3. Check start injector time switch.
- Remove start injector time switch.





- Measure resistance between terminals.





- If OK proceed to step 4.
- If not OK replace start injector time switch.
4. Check harness and connector between cold start injector and start injector time switch.
- If OK proceed to step 5.
- If not OK repair or replace harness or connector.
5. Check fuel injection of cold start injector.
- Remove cold start injector.





- Check fuel injection and fuel leakage of cold start injector.

Volume: 55 - 70 cm3 (3.4 - 4.3 Cu in) per 15 seconds
Fuel drop: One drop or less per minute


NOTE: Perform this check within the shortest possible time.

- If OK proceed to DIAGNOSIS BY SYMPTOM.
- If not OK repair or replace cold start injector.
