Installation

PROCEDURE
1. Reinstall engine coolant temperaure sensor.
- Install a new gasket to the engine coolant temperaure sensor.
- Install the engine coolant temperaure sensor.

Torque: 20 Nm (14 ft lb)

- Connect the engine coolant temperaure sensor connector.
2. Install water inlet and inlet housing.
- Remove any old sealing material and be careful not to drop any oil on the contact surfaces of the water inlet housing and water pump. Using a razor blade and gasket scraper, remove all the old sealing material from the gasket surfaces and sealing groove. Thoroughly clean all components to remove all the loose material. Using a non-residue solvent, clean both sealing surfaces.





- Apply sealer to the sealing groove of water inlet housing as shown in the illustration.
- Install a new 0-ring to the water inlet housing.
- Apply soapy water on the 0-ring.





- Push the water inlet housing end into the water pump hole.
- Install the water inlet and housing assembly with the 2 bolts. Alternately tighten the bolts.

Torque: 18 Nm (13 ft lb)

NOTE: Use bolts 25 mm (0.98 in) in length.





- Connect the water bypass hose to the idle air control valve.





3. Reconnect the following hoses;
- Upper radiator hose to front water bypass joint (1)
- Lower radiator hose to water inlet (2)
- Radiator reservoir hose to water inlet housing (3)





4. Reinstall the righthand ignition coil.
- Install the ignition coil with the 2 bolts.





- Install the camshaft position sensor connector to the ignition coil bracket.
- Connect the ignition coil connector.





5. Reinstall lower high-tension cord cover.
- Connect the end portions of the high-tension cord to the cord clamps
- Install the high-tension cord cover with the bolt.





- Install the clamps on the high-tension cords to the high-tension cord cover.
- Connect the high-tension cord to the righthand ignition coil.





6. Reinstall righthand No. 3 timing belt cover.
- Install the 3 gaskets to the timing belt cover.
- Fit the portion A of the timing belt cover, matching it with the lower high-tension cord cover.
- Install the timing belt cover with the 3 bolts.





7. Reinstall vacuum switching valve for evaporative emissions with the 2 bolts.





8. Reinstall lefthand No. 3 timing belt cover.
- Install the 3 gaskets to the timing belt cover.
- Install the cord grommet to the high-tension cord (from the lefthand ignition coil).
- Install the cord grommet to the timing belt cover.
- Fit the portion A of the timing belt cover. matching it with the lower high-tension cord cover.
- Install the timing belt cover with the 4 bolts.





9. Reinstall righthand engine wire cover.
- Fit the portions A and B of the engine wire cover, matching them with the lower high-tension cord cover and No.3 timing belt cover.
- Install the engine wire cover with the bolt.





10. Reinstall lefthand engine wire cover.
- Connect the portions A and B of the engine wire cover to the wire brackets.
- Set the vacuum switching valve (for the fuel pressure) wire in original position.
- Fit the portions C and D of the engine wire cover, matching them with the lower high-tension cord cover and No.3 timing belt cover.
- Install the engine wire cover with the 2 bolts.





11. Reinstall upper high-tension cord cover.
- Fit portion A of the upper high-tension cord cover matching the top of the lower high-tension cord cover.





- Push the front side of the upper high-tension cord cover, and fit the front side claw groove of the upper high -tension cord cover to the claw of the lower high -tension cord cover.
- Install the upper high-tension cord cover with the 2 bolts.





12. Reinstall intake air connector.
- Connect the end portions of the intake air connector to the throttle body and air cleaner hose.
- Tighten the 2 hose clamps.
- Install the bolt holding the intake air connector to the cylinder head cover.





- Connect the following hoses:
- Air hose to idle air control valve (1)
- Air hose (from air control valve on power steering pump) to intake air connector (2)
13. Reconnect negative terminal cable to battery.
14. Refill engine with coolant.
15. Check for leaks.
