Inspection Procedure

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT: If diagnostic trouble codes "22" (engine coolant temperature sensor circuit), "24" (intake air temperature sensor circuit) and "41" (throttle position sensor circuit) are output simultaneously, E2 (sensor ground) may be open.

1. Check voltage between terminals THA and E2 of engine control module connector.

- Connect the Check Harness A.
- Turn ignition switch on.
- Measure voltage between terminals THA and E2 of engine control module connector.

Intake air temperature 20°C (68°F) 0.5 - 3.4 volts
Intake air temperature 60°C (140°F) 0.2 - 0.1 volts

- If OK check for momentary interruption (loose connection).
- If not OK proceed to step 2.
2. Check intake air temperature sensor.

- Disconnect the volume air flow meter connector.
- Measure resistance between terminals 1 and 2 of volume air flow meter connector.
- Resistance should be within Acceptable Zone on chart.

- If OK proceed to step 3.
- If not OK replace intake air temperature sensor (Replace volume air flow meter).
3. Check for open and short in harness and connector between engine control module and intake air temperature sensor.
- If OK check and replace engine control module.
- If not OK repair or replace harness or connector.
