Inspection Procedure

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1. Check resistance of crankshaft position sensor, No. 1 and No. 2 camshaft position sensors.





- For crankshaft position sensor,
- Remove engine under cover.
- Disconnect crankshaft speed sensor connector.





- For No. 1, No. 2 camshaft position sensors, Disconnect No. 1, No. 2 camshaft position sensor connectors.
- Measure resistance of crankshaft position sensor, No. 1 and No. 2 camshaft position sensors.





- If OK proceed to step 2.
- If not OK replace applicable sensor.
2. Check for open and short in harness and connector between Engine Control Module and each sensor.
- If OK proceed to step 3.
- If not OK repair or replace harness or connector.
3. Check sensor installation and teeth of signal plate.
- If OK check and replace Engine Control Module.
- If not OK tighten the sensor or replace the signal plate.
