Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect cable from negative terminal of battery.

CAUTION: Turn the ignition switch to LOCK. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) terminal of the battery. Wait at least 90 seconds before proceeding with work.

2. Remove battery clamp cover.
- Remove the clip.
- Disconnect the two claws of the battery clamp cover from the hole of the upper radiator support and the end of the No.2 air cleaner hose.

No. 2 Air Cleaner Hose:





3. Remove air cleaner cover.
- Disconnect the two clips from the No.2 air cleaner hose by pulling the air cleaner cover, and remove the air cleaner cover.

No. 2 Air Cleaner Hose:





4. Remove No.2 air cleaner hose.
- Remove the bolt and air cleaner hose.

Intake Air Connector:





5. Remove air cleaner.
- Disconnect the volume air flow meter connector.
- (Calif. only) Disconnect the air hose (from the air pump) from the air cleaner.
- Remove the hose clamp bolt holding the air cleaner hose to the intake air connector.
- Remove the three bolts.
- Disconnect the air cleaner hose from the intake air connector, and remove the air cleaner assembly.

Air Cleaner Case:





6. Remove volume air flow meter from air cleaner case.
- Remove the four nuts and volume air flow meter and gasket.

INSTALLATION

1. Install volume air flow meter to air cleaner case with new gasket and the 4 nuts.

Torque: 10 Nm (7 ft lb)

2. Install air cleaner, hoses and cover.
- Reverse removal procedures to assemble.
3. Reconnect battery.
