Removal

PROCEDURE





1. Disconnect negative terminal cable from battery.

CAUTION: Work must be started after 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the nigative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.

2. Drain engine coolant.
3. Remove battery clamp cover.
- Remove the clip.
- Disconnect the 2 claws of the battery clamp cover from the hole of the upper radiator support and the end of the No. 2 air cleaner hose.
4. Remove the Air cleaner cover.
5. Remove the No. 2 air cleaner hose.
6. Remove the battery.
7. Remove tha engine compartment relay box cover.
8. Remove the air cleaner.
9. Remove intake air connector.





- Disconnect the following hoses:
- Air hose from idle air control valve (1)
- Air hose (from air control valve on power steering pump) from intake air connector (2)





- Remove the hose clamp bolt holding the intake air connector to the throttle body.
- Disconnect the intake air connector from the throttle body and air cleaner hose, and remove the intake air connector.





10. Remove upper high-tension cord cover.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Disconnect the front side claw groove of the upper cord cover from the claw of lower cord cover, and remove the upper cord cover.





11. Remove the bolt and righthand engine wire cover.
12. Disconnect vacuum sensing hose from fuel pressure regulator.
13. Disconnect fuel return pipe from fuel pressure regulator.
- Remove the union bolt and two gaskets and disconnect the return pipe from the pressure regulator. Loosen the union bolt slowly and place a suitable container under the union to catch spilled fuel.
14. Remove fuel pressure regulator.
- Loosen the locknut.
- Lift up the water bypass hose between the idle air control valve and throttle body and remove the pressure regulator and o-ring.
