NO.: BROO3-96

DATE: APRIL 26, 1996

MODELS: LS 400/GS 300

Title: REAR BRAKE PAD SHIMS

To reduce the possibility of rear brake squeal on 1993 and 1994 LS 400 and GS 300 models the following changes have been made:

PRODUCTION CHANGES:

1. SHIM - Bonded shim replaced by two ply shims.

2. SHIM GREASE - Shim grease (P/N 08887-80409) changed from gold color to dark gray color.

REPAIR PROCEDURES:

1. Remove and discard original shims from brake pads (replacement of pad is not necessary). Scrape all remaining glue completely from the back of brake pads.

2. Apply new shim grease (included in shim kit) over the inside face of Anti-squeal shim No. 1. Apply shim grease to both faces of Anti-squeal shim No. 2.

3. Install shim No. 2 (slotted shim) to the original brake pad making sure the arrow cut out in the shim is orientated up and forward in body position (for LS 400, opposite the wear indicator notch in the pad). Place shim No. 1 over shim No. 2 and reinstall brake pads.
