Removal
PROCEDURE1. Disconnect cable from negative terminal of battery.
CAUTION: Turn the ignition switch to "LOCK". Disconnect the cable tram the negative (-) terminal ot the battery. Wait 90 seconds before proceeding with work.
2. Remove Data Link Connector 1 bracket.
- Disconnect the Data Link Connector 1 from the bracket.
- Disconnect the Vacuum Switching Valve connector (California only).
- Disconnect the following hoses:
PS air hose from air intake chamber (1)
Vacuum sensing hose from air intake chamber (2)
Vacuum sensing hose from Fuel Pressure Regulator (California only) (3)
- Remove the bolt, Data Link Connector 1 bracket and Vacuum Switching Valve assembly (California models).
3. Remove Exhaust Gas Recirculation pipe.
- Loosen the union nut of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation pipe.
- Remove the 2 bolts, Exhaust Gas Recirculation pipe and gasket.
4. Remove dipstick guide for transmission.
- Remove the mounting bolt.
- Pull out the dipstick guide together with the dipstick.
- Remove the O-ring from the dipstick guide.
5. Disconnect the following vacuum hoses:
Vacuum hose (from actuator) from No.1 vacuum pipe (1)
Vacuum hose from air intake chamber (2)
Vacuum hose from hose clamp (3)
Brake booster vacuum hose from union (4)
6. Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses from the vacuum control valve set. Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the No. 2 vacuum pipe.
7. Remove air intake chamber.
- Disconnect the acceleator cable from the bracket.
- Remove the union bolt, brake booster union and 2 gaskets.
- Remove the 2 bolts, accelerator cable bracket and hose clamp.
- Remove the 2 bolts holding the chamber stays to the air intake chamber.
- Remove the 4 bolts and 2 nuts holding the intake air connector to the air intake chamber.
- Remove the 2 nuts holding the Throttle Body bracket to the cylinder head.
- Remove the 5 bolts, 1 nut, air intake chamber and 2 gaskets.
8. Remove vacuum control valve set.
- Disconnect the Vacuum Switching Valve connector.
- Remove the 2 nuts and vacuum control valve set.
9. Remove Vacuum Tank and Vacuum Switching Valve.
- Remove the vacuum hose, screw and Vacuum Switching Valve from the Vacuum Tank.
