Variable Induction Control Actuator: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The Actuator is used to open and close the Intake Air Control Valve.

OPERATION
The Actuator is a vacuum operated servo with a linkage rod that attaches to the Intake Air Control Valve. At times as determined by the Engine Control Module, vacuum is supplied to the Actuator which then operates the Intake Air Control Valve. When vacuum is present at the Actuator the Intake Air Control Valve closes the center passage, effectively lengthening the intake runner.
