Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair




PROCEDURE

Removal

1. Disconnect cable from negative terminal of battery.

CAUTION: Turn the ignition switch to "LOCK". Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) terminal of the battery. Wait 90 seconds before proceeding with work.





2. Remove air cleaner hose.
- Disconnect the power steering air hose to the air cleaner hose.
- Loosen the 2 hose clamps, and remove the air cleaner hose.





3. Remove Volume Air Flow Meter from air cleaner.
- Disconnect the high - tension cord from the cord clamp.
- Disconnect the Volume Air Flow Meter connector.
- Disconnect the wire clamp from the bracket.





- Remove the 4 nuts, bolt, Volume Air Flow Meter and gasket.





4. Inspect the Volume Air Flow Meter.
- Check that the honey-combed is neither deformed nor damaged. If necessary, replace the Volume Air Flow Meter.

Installation

1. Install Volume Air Flow Meter from air cleaner.





- Install a new gasket and the Volume Air Flow Meter with the 4 nuts and bolt.

Torque: 10 Nm (7 ft lb)





- Connect the wire clamp to the bracket.
- Connect the Volume Air Flow Meter connector.
- Connect the high-tension cord to the cord clamp.





2. Install air cleaner hose.
- Install the air cleaner hose with the 2 hose clamps.
- Connect the power steering air hose to the air cleaner hose.
3. Connect cable from negative terminal of battery.
