Removal

PROCEDURE

CAUTION: After affecting any repair that requires disassembly of fuel related components, inspect carefully for fuel leaks upon completion.

CAUTION: Do not smoke or work near an open flame when working on the fuel pump.

1. Disconnect negative (-) terminal cable from battery.

CAUTION: Work must be started after 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.

2. Remove luggage compartment floor mat.

Compartment Cover:





3. Remove luggage compartment trim front cover.
- Remove 2 clips and the cover.

Fuel Pump Connector:





4. Disconnect fuel pump connector.

Rear Seat Cushion:





5. Remove rear seat cushion. Pull up the front portion of the rear seat cushion.

Rear Seatback:





6. Remove rear seatback.
- Disconnect the seat belt from the belt guide.
- Remove 4 bolts.
- Pull up the seatback to remove it.

7. Remove room partition trim.

Partition Cover:





8. Remove room partition cover.
- Remove the 6 nuts.

Partition Cover Removal:





- Using a scraper, pry out the partition cover.
9. Remove Fuel Pump.
- Disconnect the wire clip from the Fuel Tank.

Fuel Pump Set Plate:





- Remove the 8 bolts, and disconnect the Fuel Pump set plate from the Fuel Tank.

Pump Bracket Removal:





- Remove the 3 nuts, and disconnect the Fuel Pump bracket from the Fuel Tank.
- Disconnect the Fuel Pump hose from the Fuel Pump bracket, and remove the Fuel Pump, bracket and set plate assembly.
- Remove the gasket from the pump set plate.
