Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

PROCEDURE

CAUTION: After affecting any repair that requires disassembly of fuel related components, inspect carefully for fuel leaks upon completion.

Fuel Pressure Regulator:





Removal

1. Disconnect the vacuum sensing hose fromthe Fuel Pressure Regulator.
2. Disconnect the No. 2 fuel pipe (fuel return pipe) from the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
- Place a suitable container under the Regulator.
- Slowly loosen the the union bolt.
- Remove the union bolt and two gaskets, disconnect the fuel pipe from the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
3. Remove the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
- Remove the two bolts and the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
- Remove the O-ring from the Fuel Pressure Regulator.

Installation

1. Install the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
- Apply a light coat of gasoline to a new O-ring and install it on the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
- Attach the Fuel Pressure Regulator to the delivery pipe.
- Check that the Fuel Pressure Regulator rotates smoothly.

NOTE: If it does not rotate smoothly, the O-ring may be pinched. If so remove the Fuel Pressure Regulator and perform above steps again.

- Install the Fuel Pressure Regulator with the two bolts.

Torque: 8.8 Nm (78 in lb)

2. Connect the No. 2 fuel pipe to the Fuel Pressure Regulator with two new gaskets and the union bolt.

Torque: 27 Nm (20 ft lb)

3. Connect the vacuum sensing hose to the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
4. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
