Fuel Pressure Control Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

PROCEDURE

1. Remove Vacuum Switching Valve.

VSV Removal:





- Disconnect the Data Link Connector 1 from the bracket.
- Disconnect the Vacuum Switching Valve connector.
- Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses from the Vacuum Switching Valve.
- Remove the bolt, Data Link Connector 1 bracket and Vacuum Switching Valve assembly.
- Remove the screw and Vacuum Switching Valve from the Data Link Connector 1 bracket.
2. Inspect Vacuum Switching Valve for open circuit.

VSV Inspection - Checking Resistance:





- Using an ohmmeter, check that there is continuity between the terminals.

Resistance: 33 - 39 ohms at 20°C (68°F)

- If there is no continuity, replace the Vacuum Switching Valve.
3. Inspect Vacuum Switching Valve for ground.

VSV Inspection - Checking For Short:





- Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between each terminal and the body.
- If there is continuity, replace the Vacuum Switching Valve.
4. Inspect Vacuum Switching Valve operation.

VSV Inspection - Checking Operation:





- Check that the air flows from pipe E to pipe G.

VSV Inspection - Checking Operation:





- Apply battery voltage across the terminals.
- Check that the air flows from pipe E to the filter. If operation is not as specified, replace the Vacuum Switching Valve.
5. Reinstall Vacuum Switching Valve.
- Install the Vacuum Switching Valve with the screw.
- Install the Data Link Connector 1 bracket and Vacuum Switching Valve assembly with the bolt.
- Connect the 2 vacuum hoses to the Vacuum Switching Valve.
- Connect the Vacuum Switching Valve connector.
- Connect the Data Link Connector 1 to the bracket.
