Off Vehicle Inspection

PROCEDURE

CAUTION: After affecting any repair that requires disassembly of fuel related components, inspect carefully for fuel leaks upon completion.

Injection Inspection

1. Disconnect the fuel inlet hose from the fuel tube.

2. Connect Special Service Tool hose to the fuel inlet tube with Special Service Tool union. Tighten the flare nut on the fuel tube.

Torque: 30 Nm (22 ft lb)

3. Disconnect the fuel return hose from the fuel tube.

4. Install a new O-ring to the fuel inlet of the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
5. Connect Special Service Tool hose to the fuel inlet of the Fuel Pressure Regulator with Special Service Tool union and the two bolts.
6. Connect the fuel return hose to the fuel outlet of the Fuel Pressure Regulator with Special Service Tool union, two new gaskets and union bolt.

Injector Hookup:

7. Install the grommet and a new O-ring to the Injector.
8. Connect Special Service Tool hose to the Injector with Special Service Tool union and hold the Injector and union with the clamp.
9. Put the Injector into the graduated cylinder. Install a suitable vinyl hose onto the Injector to prevent gasoline from splashing out.

10. Using jumper, connect terminals B+ and FP of the Data Link Connector 1. Reconnect the negative (-) terminal cable of the battery.

11. Turn the Ignition Switch ON, do not start the engine.

12. Connect the wire to the injector and battery for 15 seconds and measure the volume with the graduated cylinder. Test each Injector 2 or 3 times.

Volume: 70 - 88 cc (4.3 - 5.4 ci) per 15 seconds
Difference between Injectors: 9 cc (0.5 ci) or less

If the injector is not as specified, replace the Injector.

Leakage Inspection

1. In the condition above, disconnect the battery from the injector and check for fuel leakage under pressure.

Maximum leakage: one drop or less per minute

If the injector is not as specified, replace the Injector.
2. Disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal cable.
3. Remove the jumper from the Data Link Connector 1.

4. Reconnect the fuel return hose to the fuel tube.
5. Reconnect the fuel inlet hose to the fuel tube.

Torque: 30 Nm (22 ft lb)

6. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
