PROCEDURE

CAUTION: After affecting any repair that requires disassembly of fuel related components, inspect carefully for fuel leaks upon completion.

1. Disconnect cable from negative terminal of battery.

CAUTION: Turn the ignition switch to "LOCK". Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) terminal of the battery. Wait 90 seconds before proceeding with work.

2. Drain engine coolant.

3. Disconnect the following control cables from throttle body.
- Accelerator cable.
- A/T throttle control cable.
- Cruise control actuator cable.
4. Remove intake air connector pipe.

- Disconnect the following hoses:
PS air hose from air connector pipe (1).
Positive Crankcase Ventilation hose from No.2 cylinder head cover (2).
- Loosen the 2 hose clamps. and remove the air connector pipe with the hoses.
5. Remove Exhaust Gas Recirculation pipe.

- Loosen the union nut of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation pipe.
- Remove the 2 bolts, Exhaust Gas Recirculation pipe and gasket.
6. Disconnect Exhaust Gas Recirculation Gas Temperature Sensor connector (California only).

7. Disconnect Throttle Body bracket from Throttle Body and cylinder head. Remove the 4 nuts, and disconnect the Throttle Body bracket from the Throttle Body and cylinder head.
8. Remove Throttle Body with intake air connector.

- Disconnect the following hoses:
Positive Crankcase Ventilation hose from intake air connector (1).
3 vacuum hoses from No.2 vacuum pipe (2).

- Disconnect the following connectors:
Sub-Throttle Actuator connector (w/TRAC only) (1).
Sub-Throttle Position Sensor connector (w/ TRAC) (2).
Idle Air Control Valve connector (3).
Throttle Position Sensor connector (4).
Vacuum Switching Valve for Exhaust Gas Recirculation connector (5).

- Remove the nut holding the Vacuum Switching Valve to the chamber stay.

- Remove the 4 bolts and 2 nuts holding the intake air connector to the intake chamber.

- Disconnect the vacuum pipe (from the actuator) from the No.1 vacuum pipe.
- Disconnect the 2 water bypass hoses from the Throttle Body.

- Remove the Throttle Body together with the intake air connector and gasket.

9. Disconnect No. 1 fuel pipe from delivery pipe.
- Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the No.2 vacuum pipe.

- Remove the union bolt and 2 gaskets, and disconnect the fuel pipe.

NOTE: Put a suitable container or shop rag under the delivery pipe. Slowly loosen the union bolt.

10. Disconnect No.2 fuel pipe from Fuel Pressure Regulator.
- Remove the bolt holding the fuel pipe to the intake manifold.
- Remove the union bolt and 2 gaskets, and disconnect the fuel pipe from the Pressure Regulator.

NOTE: Put a suitable container or shop rag under the Pressure Regulator. Slowly loosen the union bolt.

11. Remove air intake chamber stays. Remove the bolt, nut and intake chamber stay. Remove the No.1 and No.2 stays.
12. Disconnect vacuum sensing hose from Pressure Regulator.

13. Disconnect Injector connectors.

14. Disconnect actuator for Acoustic Control Induction System.
- Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the actuator.
- Wrap the Actuator with adhesive tape and attach it to the intake chamber.

NOTE: Do not apply any force on the actuator rod. Prevent the rod clip from detaching.

15. Remove delivery pipe and Injectors.

- Remove the 3 bolts and delivery pipe together with the 6 Injectors.

NOTE: Be careful not to drop the Injectors when removing the delivery pipe.

- Pull out the 6 Injectors from the delivery pipe.
