EGR Valve: Service and Repair
PROCEDURERemoval
1. Disconnect engine wire and heater water valve from cowl panel.
- Remove the two nuts and disconnect the engine wire protector and ground strap.
- Remove the two bolts and disconnect the heater water valve.
- Pull out the engine wire protector and heater water hose from the cowl panel.
2. Remove the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Pipe.
- Loosen Exhaust Gas Recirculation union nut.
- Remove Exhaust Gas Recirculation pipe mounting bolts.
- Remove pipe and gaskets.
3. Remove the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Temperature Sensor (California models only).
4. Remove Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve.
- Disconnect vacuum hose from Valve.
- Remove pressure hose.
- Remove Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve mounting nuts.
- Remove Valve and gaskets.
Installation
1. Reinstall the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve.
- Place a new gasket on the intake air connector.
- Install the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve wiyh two nuts.
Torque: 18 Nm (13 ft lb)
- Reconnect vacuum hose and pressure hose to Valve.
2. Reinstall the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Temperature Sensor (California models only).
Torque: 20 Nm (14 ft lb)
3. Reinstall the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Pipe.
- Temporarily install the union nut of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Pipe.
- Install a new gasket and the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Pipe with the two bolts.
Torque: 21 Nm (15 ft lb)
- Tighten the union nut.
Torque: 64 Nm (47 ft lb)
4. Reinstall the engine wire and heater water valve to cowl panel.
