Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Testing and Inspection


INSPECTION

1. Visually inspect Canister.

Canister Inspection:





- Check Canister housing for damage.
- Inspect all ports for cracks.
2. Inspect filter and check valves

Checking Canister Operation:





- Blow low pressure air (less than 1 psi) into port A and check that air flows, unrestricted, out all other ports.

Checking Canister Operation:





- Blow low pressure air (less than 1 psi) into port B. Air should not flow from other ports.
- If any problems are found, replace Canister.
3. Clean Canister filter

Cleaning Canister:





- Blow compressed air (below 43 psi) into port A while blocking port B.
- Do not attempt to rinse Canister with solvent or any other liquid.
- Replace Canister if charcoal comes out during cleaning.
