Main Heated Oxygen Sensors

INSPECTION

1. Allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature.
2. Inspect feedback voltage.





- Connect the positive (+) probe of a voltmeter to terminal VF1 (for sensor No. 1) or VF2 (for sensor No. 2) of the Data Link Connector, and negative (-) probe to terminal E1.





- Perform the test as described above.
3. Inspect heater resistance of Main Heated Oxygen Sensors.





- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) terminal of the battery.

NOTE: Turn the ignition switch to "LOCK". Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) terminal from the battery. Wait 90 seconds before proceeding with work.

- Disconnect the Heated Oxygen Sensor connectors.





- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals +B and HT.

Resistance: 11.7 - 14.3 ohms at 20°C (68°F)

- Reconnect the Heated Oxygen Sensor connectors.





4. If necessary, replace Heated Oxygen Sensors.

Torque: 44 Nm (33 ft lb)

5. Reconnect cable to negative terminal of battery.
