Intake Air Plenum: Service and Repair

ACIS Components:

Preparation
- Disconnect negative battery terminal.

Transmission Dipstick:

- A/T vehicles, remove transmission dipstick and tube.

VSV Location:

- Disconnect ACIS VSV electrical connector.
- Remove VSV vacuum hoses.

Vacuum Tank Assembly:

- Unbolt and remove vacuum tank and VSV.

No. 2 Vacuum Pipe:

- Remove No. 2 vacuum pipe.

EGR Pipe:

- Loosen EGR union nut.
- Remove bolts and EGR pipe.

Air Intake Chamber Hoses:

Air Chamber Removal
- Disconnect the following vacuum hoses:
^ Brake booster
^ Air hose from canister
^ Vacuum line from vacuum pipe
^ Pressure regulator
^ P/S air control valve

Air Intake Chamber Removal:

- Remove fasteners holding intake air chamber to air connector.

Air Intake Chamber Removal:

- Remove data link connector and wiring harness from chamber.
- Unbolt and remove intake air chamber.
- Reverse procedure to install.
- Use new gaskets and note the following torque values:

Air chamber - 15 ft.lb (21 Nm)
Air connector - 13 ft.lb (18 Nm)
EGR pipe bolts - 15 ft.lb (21 Nm)
EGR pipe union - 47 ft.lb (64 Nm)
Vacuum tank - 78 in.lbs (8.8 Nm)
