Component Test

Checking Operation:

Functional Inspection
- With engine running or cranking, listen for injector noise.
- It a stethoscope is not available, place a finger on the injector and feel for operation.
- If no operation is detected, check wiring connectors, injector or injector pulse from ECM.

Checking Injector Resistance:

Electrical Inspection
- Disconnect injector electrical connector.
- Connect an ohmmeter across the injector terminals.

Desired - 13.4 to 14.2 ohms

- Replace injector is resistance is not as specified.

Injector Inspection:

Operational Inspection
- Remove injectors, refer to COMPONENT REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES.
- Connect injector to fuel rail with a length of fuel line and suitable adapters.

Installing Jumper Wire:

- Pressurize fuel system by installing a jumper wire between Check Connector terminals +B and FP.

Testing Fuel Injector Operation - Current Applied:

- Place injector over a graduated cylinder.
- Apple battery voltage to injector for 15 seconds.

Desired - 70 to 88 cc/15 seconds
Less than 9cc difference between injectors


- Disconnect battery voltage and inspect injector for leakage.

Desired - One drop per 3 minutes or less

- Remote jumper wire.
- Reinstall injectors.
