Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

Exhaust System:





Front Converter
- Converter should be cool.
- Apply a suitable penetrant to fasteners.

Removing Front Pipe:





- Remove bolts holding front converter to front pipe.
- Remove 4 nuts holding converter to exhaust manifold.
- Remove converter and gaskets.
- Reverse to install, using new gaskets and noting the following torque values:

Converter to manifold - 46 ft.lb (62 Nm)
Converter to pipe - 32 ft.lb (43 Nm)



Sub-Oxygen Sensor:





Rear Converter
- Converter should be cool.
- Apply a suitable penetrant to fasteners.
- Remove sub-oxygen sensor from pipe.

Removing Rear Converter:





- Remove bolts holding converter to center pipe.
- Remove bolts holding front pipe to front converter.
- Remove front pipe assembly and gaskets.
- Reverse to install, using new gaskets and noting the following torque values:

Sub-oxygen sensor - 13 ft.lb (18 Nm)
Front pipe - 32 ft.lb (43 Nm)
