Passenger Side Floor Carpet - Separated from Console

PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR CARPET

On some ES 300 vehicles, the passenger side floor carpet may pull down and away from the center console. Use the following procedures to correct this condition:

MATERIALS LIST:

Pad, Front Floor Mat 58517-33030 1
Retainer, Floor Trim 67771-32050 2

FLOOR CARPET REMOVAL:





1) Remove Console upper panel. (See Figure 1)

Note:
Use a small size flat blade screwdriver to release the console clips. Tape screwdriver tip to prevent damage to console area.

Note:
Shift lever removed from illustration for clarity.





2) Remove Center Cluster Finish Panel by using the screwdriver to release the 2 clips. (See Figure 2)





3) Remove Front Ash Receptacle. (See Figure 3)

a) Apply adhesive tape to sides and front of shift lever for protection.
b) Position shift lever into the "L" position.
c) Remove the four (4) screws.
(See Figure 3)





d) Pull out the ash receptacle as shown.
(See Figure 4)
e) Disconnect the multi-pin connector.

NOTE:
Take care not to damage the shift lever.

4) Remove the Console Box.
a) Remove the felt insert (remove cellular phone if so equipped).





b) Remove the two (2) bolts, four (4) screws and the box. (See Figure 5)

NOTE:
Shift lever removed from illustration for clarity.

5) Remove Passenger Side Floor Carpet.





a) Using a Trim Pad remover, (such as a Snap-on(R) Trim Pad Remover P/N A117A) remove the retainer clip. (See Figure 6)
b) Lift right edge of carpet upward and disconnect the hooks.
c) Roll carpet away from console.

NOTE:
Separate the hook and loop fastener at the front of the floor carpet before rolling carpet away from console.

RETAINER CLIP REPLACEMENT:

6) a) Remove the old retainer clip from the back side of carpet.





b) Install the new retainer clip
(P/N 6771-32050) to the carpet. (See Figure 7)

If necessary, repeat replacement procedure for driver's side.





7) a) Using the trim pad remover, remove the retainer clip. (See Figure 8)
b) Lift right edge of carpet upward and disconnect the hooks.
c) Roll carpet away from console.
d) Remove the old retainer clip from the back side of carpet.
e) Install the new retainer clip
(P/N 6771-32050) to the carpet.

FLOOR CARPET PAD INSTALLATION:

8) a) Remove adhesive cover sheet from face of pad (P/N 58517-33030).





b) Install pad at passenger side floor as shown (alongside center tunnel area and directly in front of the black plastic air duct). (See Figure 9)

NOTE:
Do not install the pad to the driver's side floor.

FLOOR CARPET INSTALLATION:

9) Install floor carpet and center console parts by following removal sequence in reverse order.
