Technical Instructions For Campaign # 901, Cruise Control Actuator

SPECIAL SERVICE CAMPAIGN # 901 - CRUISE CONTROL ACTUATOR

TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS

Note: Before starting any work on the vehicle, install protective covers on the driver's seat and the front fenders. When periorming the work, do not lav tools or parts on any part of the vehicle, keep them on a workbench or tool box.

Tools Required
3/8" Drive Ratchet
3/8" Drive Extension (3"-6")
3/8" Drive 10 mm Socket
3/8" Drive in.lbs. Torque Wrench
Needle Nose Pliers 2 - 14 mm Open End Wrenches

Cruise Control Actuator Removal
1. Turn the ignition switch to the lock position.

2. Remove the throttle linkage cover (2 bolts and 1 cap nut).

3. Remove the clip that retains the end of the cruise control cable to the throttle linkage.

4. Loosen the nut on the cable housing side of the mounting bracket and disconnect the cable.

3. Remove the cruise control actuator cover.
Note: Use care when pulling up on the cover to avoid damage to the cover and retaining clips.

6. Disconnect the actuator electrical connector.

7. Remove the actuator mounting bolts. (3 bolts)

8. Remove the original actuator from the vehicle.
Cruise Control Actuator Installation

1. Install the new cruise control actuator.

Note: When installing the new cruise control actuator, be careful not to bend or twist the cruise control cable.

2. Install the actuator mounting bolts. Tightening torque: 50 kgcm (32 in.lb., 44 N-m)

3. Connect the actuator electrical connector.

4. Connect the cruise control cable as shown in Figure 2.

5. Loosen the nut on the cable of the new cruise control actuator as shown in Figure 2, then install the cruise control cable to the throttle linkage and tighten the nut.

6. Check that the cable is not too tight. The cable must have sufficient freeplay to allow the throttle to close fully.

7. Check that the throttle linkage moves smoothly.

8. Install the cruise control actuator cover.

9. Install the throttle linkage cover.
