90lexus02 AUDIO 001 12-01-89 LS400, ES250
Title REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE OF AUTOMATIC ANTENNA MAST

If the antenna mast is broken or damaged on an LS 400 or ES 250, the following replacement procedure should be used (Please note that the following procedure requires two people).

REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

1) Turn the Ignition Key to the "OFF" position.

2) Carefully remove the Cap Nut and O-ring from the antenna body (see figure 1).

3) This step will push the antenna mast out of the antenna body. The 2nd person should stand by the antenna and prevent the antenna mast from damaging the vehicle when it is pushed out of the antenna body (see figure 2).

- LS400 with CD autochanger - Depress and hold the "AM" and "CD" buttons and simultaneously turn the Ignition Key to the "ACC" position. The display will indicate "ANT".

- LS400 without CD autochanger - Depress and hold the "AM" and "Tape" buttons and simultaneously turn the Ignition Key to the "ACC" position. The display will indicate "ANT".

- ES250 - Turn the Ignition Key to the "ACC" position and then push the "AM" or "FM" Button.

4) Insert the cable end (plastic with teeth) of the new antenna mast so that the teeth are directed toward the rear of the vehicle. Continue to insert the cable until it reaches the bottom of the antenna body (see figure 3).

Figure 4:

5) Turn the Ignition Key to the "OFF" position. This will retract the cable and antenna mast into the antenna body.

If the cable is not being retracted, twist it back and forth until the cable starts retracting (see figure 4).
6) Even if the antenna mast has not been retracted fully into the antenna body, install the O-ring and Cap Nut. The initial operation of the radio should completely retract the antenna mast.

7) Turn the Ignition key to the "ACC" position. Turn the radio on and inspect the operation of the antenna by pushing the "AM" or "FM" button.
