Ride Control Solenoid Valve: Service and Repair

Removal
1. Refer to Fig. 74 when replacing pneumatic cylinder.
2. Move height control switch in luggage compartment to Off position.
3. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
4. Remove rear seat cushion, rear seat back, right and left rear scuff plates, right and left roof side inner garnishes, package tray trim and luggage compartment trim.
5. Disconnect both stabilizer links at stabilizer bar.

6. Remove brake caliper from rear axle carrier, then hang up using wire, Fig. 71.
7. Disconnect height control sensor link from No. 1 lower arm, Fig. 75.
8. Remove nut on lower side of pneumatic cylinder but, do not remove bolt.

9. Support rear axle carrier with jack, Fig. 72.
10. Remove grommet and disconnect air tube from pneumatic cylinder, Fig. 76.
11. Remove three nuts, then actuator cover, Fig. 77.
12. Remove two bolts, then actuator.
13. Remove three pneumatic cylinder mounting nuts, then lower rear axle carrier and remove lower bolt.
14. Remove pneumatic cylinder from vehicle.

Installation
1. Install pneumatic cylinder in vehicle with three mounting nuts and torque to specifications.
2. Match rods of pneumatic cylinder with holes in suspension control actuator, then install actuator and actuator cover, Fig. 78.
3. Replace O-rings on air tube, then connect air tube to pneumatic cylinder and install grommet.
4. Connect pneumatic cylinder to rear axle carrier and temporarily install nut and bolt.
5. Using a new nut, connect height control sensor link to lower control arm and torque to specifications.
6. Install brake caliper and torque bolts to specification.
7. Connect both stabilizer bar links and torque to specifications.
8. Install wheel and tire assembly, then lower vehicle.
9. Move height control switch in luggage compartment to On position.
10. Start engine and fill up pneumatic cylinder with air, then bounce vehicle up and down several times to stabilize suspension.
11. Raise and support vehicle with vehicle weight still on suspension, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
12. Torque lower pneumatic cylinder bolt to specifications.
13. Install wheel and tire assembly and torque to specifications, then lower vehicle.
14. Install luggage compartment and package tray trim, right and left roof side inner garnishes, right and left rear scuff plates, rear seat back and rear seat cushion.
15. Check rear wheel alignment.
