REMOVAL OF REAR PNEUMATIC CYLINDER





1. MOVE HEIGHT CONTROL ON/OFF SWITCH IN LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TO "OFF"

2. JACK UP VEHICLE, REMOVE REAR WHEEL

3. REMOVE FOLLOWING PARTS
(a) Remove the rear seat cushion and rear seat back.

(b) Remove the right and left rear scuff plates.

(c) Remove the right and left roof side inner garnishes.

(d) Remove the package tray trim.

(e) Remove the luggage compartment trim.





4. DISCONNECT STABILIZER BAR LINKS
Disconnect the right and left stabilizer bar links from the stabilizer bar.





5. REMOVE REAR BRAKE CYLINDER
(a) Remove the two bolts and remove the brake cylinder from the rear axle carrier.





(b) Hang up the brake cylinder using wire, etc.





6. DISCONNECT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR LINK FROM NO.1 LOWER ARM





7. REMOVE NUT ON LOWER SIDE OF PNEUMATIC CYLINDER
(a) Remove the nut.

HINT: Do not remove the bolt.





(b) Support the rear axle carrier with jack.





8. DISCONNECT AIR TUBE FROM PNEUMATIC CYLINDER
Remove the grommet and disconnect the air tube from the pneumatic cylinder.





9. REMOVE SUSPENSION CONTROL ACTUATOR
(a) Remove the three nuts and remove the actuator cover.





(b) Remove the two bolts and remove the actuator.





10. REMOVE PNEUMATIC CYLINDER
(a) Remove the three nuts.

(b) Lower the rear axle carrier and remove the bolt on lower side of pneumatic cylinder.

(c) Remove the pneumatic cylinder.

DISPOSAL OF FRONT PNEUMATIC CYLINDER





1. REMOVE AIR FROM INSIDE CYLINDER
Using a screwdriver, etc. remove the air from inside the cylinder.





2. MAKE A HOLE IN SHOCK ABSORBER AND REMOVE GAS
(a) Fully extend the pneumatic cylinder.

(b) Using a drill, make a hole in the cylinder as shown to remove the gas inside.

CAUTION: The gas coming out is harmless, but be careful of chips which may fly up when drilling.





INSTALLATION OF REAR PNEUMATIC CYLINDER
1. INSTALL PNEUMATIC CYLINDER

Install the pneumatic cylinder to the vehicle with the three nuts.

Torque: 59 N.m (600 kgf.cm, 43 ft lbf)





2. INSTALL SUSPENSION CONTROL ACTUATOR
(a) Match the rods of the pneumatic cylinder with the holes in the suspension control actuator.





(b) Install the actuator using two bolts.





(c) Install the actuator cover with the three nuts.

Torque: 18 N.m (180 kgf.cm, 13 ft lbf)





3. CONNECT AIR TUBE TO PNEUMATIC CYLINDER
(a) Install two new 0-rings to the air tube.





(b) Connect the air tube to the pneumatic cylinder.

Torque: 17 N.m (175 kgf.cm, 13 ft lbf)

(c) Install the grommet.





4. INSTALL PNEUMATIC CYLINDER TO REAR AXLE CARRIER
Install the bolt from the vehicle's rear and temporarily tighten the nut.





5. CONNECT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR LINK TO NO.1 LOWER ARM
Using a new nut, connect the height control sensor link to the No.1 lower arm.

Torque: 5 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in. lbf)





6. INSTALL REAR BRAKE CYLINDER
Install the brake cylinder to the rear axle carrier with the two bolts.

Torque: 104 N.m (1,065 kgf.cm, 77 ft.lbf)





7. CONNECT STABILIZER BAR LINKS
Connect the right and left stabilizer bar links to the stabilizer bar.

Torque: 35 N.m (360 kgf.cm, 26 ft. lbf)





8. STABILIZE SUSPENSION
(a) Install the rear wheel and jack down the vehicle.

NOTICE: Be careful of objects sticking out from the floor as the vehicle height is noticeably lower due to the air taken out of the pneumatic cylinders.

(b) Move the height control ON/OFF switch to "ON".

(c) Start the engine and fill up the pneumatic cylinder with air.





(d) Bounce the vehicle up and down several times to stabilize the suspension.





9. TORQUE BOLT ON LOWER SIDE OF PNEUMATIC CYLINDER
(a) Jack up the vehicle and remove the rear wheel.

(b) Support the rear axle carrier with jack.

(c) Torque the bolt to the specified torque.

Torque: 137 N.m (1,400 kgf.cm, 101 ft.lbf)

10. INSTALL REAR WHEEL AND LOWER VEHICLE

Torque: 1,050 kg-cm (76 ft-lb, 103 Nm)

11. INSTALL FOLLOWING PARTS
(a) Install the luggage compartment trim.

(b) Install the package tray trim.

(c) Install the right and left roof side inner garnishes.

(d) Install the right and left rear scuff plates.

(e) Install the rear seat back and rear seat cushion.

12. CHECK REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT. Service and Repair
