Removal

Air Cleaner Cover:

Preparation
- Remove air cleaner and battery cover.
- Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Drain coolant into an approved container.

No. 2 Air Cleaner Hose:

- Remove No. 2 air hose.
- Disconnect air flow sensor electrical connector.

Air Cleaner:

- Remove air intake pipe from air flow meter.
- Remove air cleaner lid and air flow meter.

Intake Air Pipe:

Throttle Body Removal
- Remove idle speed control air hose.
- Remove power steering idle-up hose.

Intake Air Pipe:

- Remove air intake tube.

Throttle Body Cables:

- Remove cables from throttle body.

Throttle Body Hoses:

- Disconnect vacuum hoses from throttle body.
- Disconnect vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator.
- Remove upper ignition wire cover.
- Disconnect water bypass hose from ISC valve.
- Disconnect throttle position sensor electrical connector.
- If equipped with traction control, disconnect sub-throttle position sensor and throttle valve actuator.

Throttle Body Fasteners:

- Remove throttle body fasteners.
- Slide throttle away from intake air chamber.

PCV And No.1 Water Bypass Lines:

- Remove PCV hose.
- Remove water bypass hose.
- Remove throttle body.

Right Side Ignition Coil:

Fuel Rail Removal - Right Side
- Remove right and left side engine wire covers.
- Remove upper timing belt covers.

Wiring Harness:

- Remove right side ignition coil.
- Remove lower ignition wire cover.
- Disconnect engine wiring harness from fuel line.
- Disconnect coolant temperature sensor and gauge senders.
- Disconnect start injector time switch.
- Disconnect right side injector electrical connector.

Fuel Return Line:

- Remove fuel return line.
- Remove cold start injector supply line.
- Remove front fuel pipe.

Rear Fuel Line:

- Remove rear fuel pipe.

Right Side Fuel Rail:

- Disconnect pressure regulator vacuum line.
- Remove fuel rail and injectors.
- Remove injectors from fuel rail.

Vacuum Lines:

Fuel Rail Removal - Left Side
- Remove three vacuum hoses from vacuum pipe.
- Remove four hoses from air pipe.
- Remove EGR VSV vacuum lines.
- Remove EGR modulator hose.

EGR And Fuel Pressure VSV's:

- Remove EGR vacuum modulator and VCV.
- Remove check connector.
- Remove fuel pressure and EGR VSV's.

No.3 And No. 4 Water Bypass Lines:

- Remove water bypass hoses from EGR.

Wiring Harness:

- Unbolt engine wiring harness cover.
- Disconnect left side distributor connector.
- Disconnect engine speed sensor connector.
- Disconnect EGR temperature sensor connector.
- Disconnect left side injector connectors.

Fuel Pulsation Damper:

- Remove pulsation damper and fuel inlet line.
- Remove front and rear fuel pipes.
- Remove left fuel rail and injectors.
- Pull injectors from fuel rail.
