Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Testing and Inspection
Charcoal Canister Inspection:
Preliminary Inspection
- Remove canister from vehicle
- Visually inspect for cracks or damage.
Inspecting Charcoal Canister Flow:
Check Valve Inspection
- Blow low pressure air into TANK port.
- Air should flow freely out other ports.
- Blow into PURGE port.
- No air flow should be present.
Cleaning Canister Filter:
Filter Cleaning
- Blow compressed air, (Below 43psi, 294 kPa), through TANK port while blocking PURGE port.
- Air should flow out lower port.
- Replace canister if desired results are not achieved, or if charcoal comes out of canister during cleaning.
