Installation Procedure

INSTALLATION-PROCEDURE FOR REMANUFACTURED COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY:

The following tools are required for this procedure:
^ Philips Screwdriver
^ Standard Screwdriver with taped head
^ Small Standard Screwdriver
^ Clean work bench
^ Clean pieces of cloth


Preparation of Vehicle:
1. Verify security status of the audio unit. Obtain the security code from the customer if a code has been set.

2. Record all preset stations of the audio unit

3. Tilt the steering wheel to the lowest and most extended position.

4. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Wait at least 20 seconds before disconnecting any electrical component.

Removal of Instrument Panel (I.P. Hood (Refer to Figure 3. 1. Remove the (3) three screws which secure the Instrument Panel (I.P.) Hood.

2. Wrap the blade of a standard screwdriver with electrical tape. Carefully pry on the three (3) clips at the bottom of the I.P. hood.

3. Pry on the upper edge of the I.P. Hood to gain access to the two (2) wire harness connectors and disconnect them (Connectors R8 and W5 in the Electrical Wiring Diagram in manual).
4. To avoid scratching the steering column cover, place a piece of clean cloth over it. Carefully remove the I.P. Hood.


NOTE: Do not scratch the Steering Column Cover.

Removal of Combination Meter Assembly:
1. Remove the four (4) screws which secure the Combination Meter Assembly (Figure 4).

2. Disconnect (3) wire harness connectors. (Connectors C12, C13 and C14 in the Electrical Wiring Diagram) (Figure 5)

3. Carefully remove the Combination Meter Assembly.


NOTE: Do not scratch the Steering Column Cover.


Removal of Speedometer Glass:

NOTE: Do the following procedure on a clean work bench, with clean tools and hands so as not to damage or soil the Combination Meter Assembly.

1. There are three (3) screws and six (6) tabs securing the Speedometer Glass as shown in Figure 6. Remove the screws.
2. Insert the small standard screwdriver under the tab and gently pry on the tab while pushing out on the Speedometer Glass.


NOTE: The tabs breaks off easily so be very careful.


3. Remove the Speedometer Glass.


NOTE: Do not touch the inner Combination Meter or inner Speedometer Glass because it is coated with anti-static material.


Removal of odometer Cover:
1. There are two (2) tabs securing the odometer cover. Unhook these tabs by using the same procedure for removing the Speedometer Glass.


NOTE: The tabs breaks off easily so be very careful.


2. Remove the Odometer Cover.

Removal of Odometer:
1. Turn the Combination Meter Assembly over and remove three
(3) screws (A) securing the lower plastic cover, the two
(2) screws (B) securing the Metal Circuit Plate and the three (3) screws (C) securing the upper plastic cover (Figure 10).


2. Move the Metal Circuit Plate to one side and remove the upper and lower plastic cover.


3. Carefully remove the 2 pin and 6 pin connectors of the Odometer by inserting a small flat blade screwdriver into the groove of the connector and pry loose.


NOTE: Do NOT pull on the wires.
4. Remove the two (2) screws which secure the Odometer.

5. Remove the Odometer.


Reassemble the Combination Assembly to be returned to NDLA:
1. Secure the Metal Circuit Plate, upper plastic cover and lower plastic cover.

2. Be careful to route wires correctly so that they will not get pinched.

3. Secure the Speedometer Glass onto the Combination Meter by inserting the six (6) Tabs and three (3) screws.


Installing Odometer to Remanufactured Combination Meter Assembly:
1. Using the procedures outlined before, remove the Speedometer Glass, lower plastic cover and upper plastic cover. Loosen the Metal Circuit Plate.

2. Secure the odometer by installing the two (2) screws.
3. Insert the 2 pin and 6 pin wire harness connectors of the Odometer in the correct direction.


4. Make sure the wiring is correctly routed through the brackets.

5. Secure the Metal Circuit Plate, Upper Plastic Cover, Lower Plastic Cover, Odometer Cover and Speedometer Glass.


Installation of Combination Meter Assembly:
1. To avoid scratching Steering Column Cover, place a piece of cloth over it. Carefully insert the Combination Meter Assembly into position.
2. Reconnect the three (3) wire harness connectors (Connectors C12, C13 and C14 the Electrical Wiring Diagram).
3. Insert the four (4) screws to secure the Combination Meter Assembly.
Installation of Instrument Panel (I.P.) Hood:
1. Cover the Steering Column with cloth so as not to scratch the Steering Column and carefully insert the I.P. Hood into position.

2. Reconnect the two (2) wire harness connectors (Connectors R8 and W5 in the Electrical Wiring Diagram).

3. Reconnect the negative (-) terminal of the battery.

4. Turn the ignition to the "ON" position and check the illumination of all warning lights.

5. Check the operation of the Fuel Gauge, Temperature Gauge, and Tachometer.

6. Secure the I.P. Hood by inserting the three (3) clips and three
(3) screws.

7. Clean the Speedometer Glass with a clean piece of soft cloth.
