Oil Pump: Service and Repair

Refer to Fig. 47 when replacing the oil pan and oil pump.
1. Remove engine undercover, then drain oil.
2. Remove dipstick.
3. Remove No. 2 oil pan. After bolt removal, insert seal breaker 09032-00100 or equivalent and remove pan.
4. Remove baffle plate, then the oil strainer.
5. Remove timing belt, No. 1 and 2 idler and crankshaft timing pulleys. Refer to TIMING BELT.
6. Remove oil pump as follows:
a. Remove stud bolts with two nuts.
b. Remove three bolts and stud bolt joining No. 1 oil pan to oil pump body.
c. Remove oil filter bracket assembly, then the bolt and pick-up sensor.
d. Remove oil pump bolts and oil pump.
e. Remove O-ring.
7. For oil pump disassembly, refer to Fig. 48.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Follow SPECIFICATIONS/MECHANICAL SPECIFICATIONS/TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS for torque values.
b. Install new O-ring.
c. Use seal packing on oil pump assembly.
