Owner Letter For Campaign 901, Cruise Control

Dear Lexus Owner:

This letter is being sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Lexus Division has determined that defects related to motor vehicle safety exist in certain 1990 Lexus LS 400 vehicles.

What is the ^ Under certain circumstances the cruise control actuator
problem? may not release from its most recent setting. This can
increase stopping distances which could result in a traffic accident.

Prolonged illumination of the center high mounted stop lamp due to steady brake application, particularly under high ambient temperature conditions, may cause the lamp housing to become distorted. Such distortion can adversely affect the photometric output of the lamp.

What will ^ Any Lexus dealer will separate the cruise control actuator

to you.

What should ^ Contact any Lexus dealer and make an appointment to have
you do? the repairs performed at your earliest convenience.
Approximately one hour is required to complete the repairs; however, the dealership may require that your vehicle be made available for a longer period of time. As a safety precaution, until these repairs have been made, please refrain from using the cruise control and avoid prolonged service brake application while stopped (use the parking brake or place the transmission selector in "Park").
