Component Tests

SENSOR CHECK





1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
2. Depress the parking brake pedal.
3. Using SST, connect terminals Ts and E1, Tc and E1 of check connector. SST 09843-18020
4. Don't depress the brake pedal.
5. Start the engine.





6. Check that the ANTILOCK warning light blinks.

HINT: If the ANTILOCK warning light does not blink, inspect the ANTI LOCK warning light circuit.

7. Check that the warning light changes from blinking to lighting up for 1 second, then to blinking again when the following operations are performed:
(1) Depress the brake pedal.
(2) Release the parking brake, then depress the parking brake pedal again.
(3) With the brake pedal depressed, shift the transmission shift lever to another position other than the "P" or "N" range. (Only on vehicles with TRAC)

(1) Release parking brake.
(2) Drive vehicle straight forward.
(3) Check if the Anti-Lock warning light blinks or lights up when the vehicle is at the speeds indicated in the table at above.

HINT:
- Check the output voltage of the speed sensor at a vehicle speed of 4-6 km/h (2.5-3.7 mph).
- Check the change in the output voltage of the speed sensor at a vehicle speed of 45-55 km/h (28-34 mph) and 110-130km/h (68-81 mph).





(4) Stop the vehicle.
(5) Read the number of blinks of the ANTILOCK warning light.





HINT: If normal, the warning light will repeatedly go on for 0.125 sec. and off for 0.125 sec.

If two or more malfunctions are indicated at the same time, the lowest numbered code will be displayed first.

9. After performing the check disconnect terminals Ts and E1, Tc and E1 of check connector.
