Lower Ball Joint


On Vehicle
1. Raise front of vehicle and place a wooden block 7.09-7.87 inch thick under one front tire.
2. Lower vehicle until there is about half the load on the front of one coil spring. Support vehicle in this position using suitable jack stands for safety.
3. Ensure front wheels are in a straight forward position and chock wheels.
4. Move lower arm up and down and ensure that the ball joint has no excessive play. Maximum ball joint vertical play is 0 inch.

Off Vehicle
1. Remove ball joint as outlined under COMPONENT R & R/LOWER BALL JOINT.
2. Move ball joint stud back and forth five times then install nut.
3. Using torque wrench, turn nut continuously one turn per 2-4 seconds and take torque reading on fifth turn.
4. If torque reading is not 9-29 inch lbs., replace ball joint.
