Fig. 6 Front disc brake assembly:
Refer to Fig. 6 when removing brake pads.
1. Remove wheel, then temporarily fasten rotor with wheel lug nuts.
2. Remove caliper retaining bolts, then the caliper. Do not let caliper hang by brake hose.
3. Remove following parts:
a. Two anti-squeal springs.
b. Two brake pads.
c. Four anti-squeal shims.
d. Pad wear indicator plate.
e. Four pad support plates.
4. Install new pads as follows:
a. Install wear indicators on inside pads.
b. Apply disc brake grease to both sides of inner anti-squeal shim.
c. Install two anti-squeal to each pad.
d. Install inside pad with wear indicator facing upward. Then install outside pad.
e. Install two anti-squeal springs.
5. Remove small amount of brake fluid from reservoir. Press in caliper piston with hammer handle or equivalent.
6. Install caliper and bolts. Torque bolts to 29 ft. lbs.
7. Install wheel. Torque wheel lug nuts to 76 ft. lbs.
8. Fill fluid level to Max line.
