Brake Pedal Freeplay

Fig. 3 Brake Pedal Freeplay Adjustment:

1. Stop engine and depress brake pedal several times to reduce vacuum in the booster.
2. Push pedal until resistance is felt. Measure distance, Fig. 3.
3. If pedal freeplay is not 0.12-0.24 inch, adjust pedal freeplay as follows:
a. Adjust pedal freeplay by turning the pedal pushrod.
b. Start engine and confirm that pedal freeplay exists.
c. After adjusting pedal freeplay, check pedal height as outlined under BRAKE PEDAL HEIGHT.
