Rear Seat Side Airbag Assembly

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: REAR SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

CAUTION:
Be sure to follow the correct removal and installation procedures of the rear seat assembly.

1. INSPECT REAR SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Vehicle not Involved in Collision)

(a) Perform a diagnostic system check Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(b) Visually check for defects with the rear seat side airbag assembly installed on the vehicle.





(1) The defects are as follows:

* Cuts on the rear seatback assembly around the rear seat side airbag assembly

* Small cracks on the rear seatback assembly around the rear seat side airbag assembly

* Significant discoloration on the rear seatback assembly around the rear seat side airbag assembly

OK:

No defects are found.

HINT
If any of the defects is found, replace the rear seat assembly with a new one.

2. INSPECT REAR SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Vehicle Involved in Collision and Airbag not Deployed)

(a) Perform a diagnostic system check Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(b) Visually check for defects with the rear seat side airbag assembly removed from the vehicle.





(1) The defects are as follows:

* Cuts on the surface of the rear seat side airbag assembly

* Small cracks on the surface of the rear seat side airbag assembly

* Marks from being dropped

* Deformation on the installation part of the rear seat side airbag assembly

* Cracks or other damage to the wire harness or connector

OK:

No defects are found.

HINT
If any of the defects is found, replace the rear seat assembly with a new one.
