Parking Brake Pedal: Testing and Inspection
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION1. CHECK PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL
Slowly depress the parking brake pedal all the way, and count the number of clicks.
Parking brake pedal travel at 294 N (30 kgf, 66 ft. lbs.): 5 - 7 clicks
If incorrect, adjust the parking brake.
2. IF NECESSARY, ADJUST PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL
HINT:
- Before adjusting the parking brake, make sure that the rear brake shoe clearance has been adjusted.
- There is the parking brake adjuster under the floor on the left side of the vehicle.
(a) Confirm that the parking brake pedal is released.
(b) Fix the turn buckle and loosen the lock nut "A".
(c) Rotate the turn buckle to adjust the parking brake pedal travel to the specification.
(d) Fix the turn buckle and tighten the lock nut "A".
Torque:
Nut A: 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.)
(e) After operating the parking brake several times, check the parking brake pedal travel.
If adjustment cannot be done by loosening the nut "A", adjust the travel by loosening the nut "B".
Torque:
Nut B: 12.5 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.)
(f) Check whether parking brake drags or not.
(g) When operating the parking brake pedal, check that the parking brake pedal indicator light lights up.
