Quarter Window Glass: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY




a. Using a screwdriver, remove the deck board assembly.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

b. Remove the 2 bolts and deck board.

2. REMOVE NO. 2 DECK BOARD
3. REMOVE NO. 3 DECK BOARD
4. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRAY
5. REMOVE SPARE WHEEL COVER TRAY
6. REMOVE DECK SIDE TRIM BOX
Remove the nut, 4 clips and deck side trim box.

7. REMOVE TONNEAU COVER
8. REMOVE REAR SEATS
9. REMOVE REAR DOOR INSIDE SCUFF PLATE
Insert a screwdriver between the rear door inside scuff plate and body to pry the scuff plate.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

10. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM
11. REMOVE REAR INTERIOR LIGHT
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the lens.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

b. Remove the 4 screws and rear interior light, then disconnect the connector.




12. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING REAR TRIM
Insert a screwdriver between the roof headlining rear trim and body to pry the trim.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

13. REMOVE REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE




a. Remove the 4 clips.
b. Insert a screwdriver between the rear floor finish plate and body to pry the finish plate.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

14. REMOVE REAR FLOOR FINISH SIDE PLATE




a. Remove the bolt and floor hook.
b. Remove the clip.
c. Insert a screwdriver between the rear floor finish side plate and body to pry the side plate.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.




15. REMOVE DECK SIDE TRIM COVER
Install the screwdriver between the deck side trim cover and the deck trim side panel to pry the deck side trim cover.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

16. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH




a. Remove the 3 clips.
b. Insert a screwdriver between the rear seat side garnish and body to pry the garnish.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

17. REMOVE ACCESSORY SOCKET




a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw on the accessory socket cover from the hole in the accessory socket, then pull out the accessory socket approx. 10 mm (0.39 in.).

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.




b. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw on the accessory socket cover from the body and remove the accessory socket and cover as a unit.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

c. Disconnect the connector.
d. Disassemble the accessory socket from the socket cover.

18. If removing the quarter window glass LH:
REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL LH




a. Remove the bolt and floor hook.
b. Remove the 5 clips.
c. Insert a screwdriver between the deck side panel and body to pry the deck trim side panel.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

19. If removing the quarter window glass RH:
REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL RH




a. Remove the luggage compartment No. 1 cover.
b. Remove the bolt and floor hook.
c. Remove the 5 clips.
d. Insert a screwdriver between the deck side panel and body to pry the deck trim side panel.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

20. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH




a. Remove the rear seat belt floor anchor.
b. Remove the 2 screws and deck side bar.
c. Remove the 2 clips.
d. Insert a screwdriver between the roof side inner garnish and body to pry the garnish.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

e. Remove the roof side inner garnish.

HINT: When removing the roof side inner garnish, through out the rear seat outer belt floor anchor from the hole on the garnish.

21. REMOVE QUARTER WINDOW GLASS




a. Using a knife, cut off the moulding as shown in the illustration.

NOTE: Do not damage the body with a knife.

b. Disconnect the connector.




c. Push a piano wire through from the interior.
d. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar object.

HINT: Apply protective tape to the outer surface to keep the surface from being scratched.

NOTE: When separating the glass, take care not to damage the paint and exterior.




e. Cut the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around it.

HINT: Cut the adhesive areas as shown in the illustration, leaving the adhesive where the clips are.




f. Push the piano wire through as shown in the illustration, cut off the adhered part to the clips.
g. Remove the glass.

NOTE: Leave as much of the adhesive on the body as possible when cutting off the glass.

INSTALLATION

1. CLEAN AND SHAPE CONTACT SURFACE OF BODY PANEL




a. Using a knife, cut away any rough areas on the body.

HINT: Leave as much of the adhesive on the body as possible.

b. Clean the cutting surface of the adhesive with a piece of shop rag saturated in cleaner.

HINT: Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the body.




2. CLEAN CONTACT SURFACE OF GLASS
Using a cleaner, clean the contact surface which is black-colored area around the entire glass rim.

NOTE: Do not touch the glass face after cleaning it.




3. COAT CONTACT SURFACE OF BODY WITH PRIMER "M"
Using a brush, coat Primer M to the exposed part of body on the vehicle side.

NOTE:
- Let the primer coating dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Do not coat Primer M to the adhesive.
- Do not keep any of the opened Primer M for later use.

4. COAT CONTACT SURFACE OF GLASS WITH PRIMER "G"




a. Using a brush or sponge, coat the edge of the glass and the contact surface with Primer G as shown in the illustration.
b. When the primer is coated wrongly to the area other than the specified, wipe it off with a clean shop rag before the primer dries.

NOTE:
- Let the primer coating dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Do not keep any of the opened Primer G for later use.

5. APPLY ADHESIVE
a. Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle.

Part No. 08850-00801 or equivalent.






HINT: After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time described in the table.

b. Load the cartridge into the sealer gun.




c. Coat the glass with adhesive as shown in the illustration.

Adhesive height: 12.5 mm (0.492 in.)
Adhesive width: 8.0 mm (0.315 in.)


6. INSTALL GLASS
a. Install the glass to the body.
b. Hold the glass in place securely with a protective tape or equivalent until the adhesive hardens.






NOTE: Take care not to drive the vehicle during the time described in the table.

7. INSPECT FOR LEAK AND REPAIR
a. Conduct a leak test after the hardening time has elapsed.
b. Seal any leak with sealant.

Part No. 08833-00030 or equivalent.

8. INSTALL ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH




a. Install the roof side inner garnish.

HINT: When install the roof side inner garnish, through out the rear seat outer belt floor anchor from the hole on the garnish.

b. Install the 2 clips.
c. Install the deck side bar with the 2 screws.
d. Install the rear seat belt floor anchor.

Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)

9. If installing the quarter window glass RH:
INSTALL DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL RH




a. Install the deck trim side panel with the 5 clips.
b. Install the floor hook with the bolt.
c. Install the luggage compartment No. 1 cover.

10. If installing the quarter window glass LH:
INSTALL DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL LH




a. Install the deck trim side panel with the 5 clips.
b. Install the floor hook with the bolt.

11. INSTALL ACCESSORY SOCKET
a. Assemble the accessory socket to the accessory socket cover at the position 10 mm (0.39 in.) away from full lock position and ensure that they are temporarily locked.




b. Align the cut-out on the body with the claw on the accessory socket cover and install the accessory socket and cover to the body.
c. After installing them, push in the accessory socket approx. 10 mm (0.39 in.) to lock it.




12. INSTALL REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH
Install the rear seat side garnish with the 3 clips.




13. INSTALL DECK SIDE TRIM COVER
Install the deck side trim cover to the deck trim side panel.

14. INSTALL REAR FLOOR FINISH SIDE PLATE




a. Install the rear floor finish side plate with the clip.
b. Install the floor hook with the bolt.




15. INSTALL REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE
Install the rear floor finish plate with the 4 clips.




16. INSTALL ROOF HEADLINING REAR TRIM
Install the roof headlining rear trim to the body.

17. INSTALL REAR INTERIOR LIGHT
a. Connect the connector.
b. Install the rear interior light with the 4 screws.
c. Install the lens to the light.

18. INSTALL REAR SEATS
19. INSTALL TONNEAU COVER
20. INSTALL DECK SIDE TRIM BOX LH AND RH
Install the deck side trim box with the nut and 4 clips.

HINT: Do the same for LH and RH.

21. INSTALL SPARE WHEEL COVER TRAY
22. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRAY
23. INSTALL NO. 3 DECK BOARD
24. INSTALL NO. 2 DECK BOARD

25. INSTAL DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY




a. Install the deck board assembly with the 2 bolts.
b. Install the front part of deck board assembly to the body.
