Removal and Installation









REMOVAL
1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)
2. CHECK BEARING BACKLASH AND AXLE HUB DEVIATION
a. Remove the 2 bolts, brake caliper and disc.
b. Support the brake caliper securely.





c. Using a dial indicator, check the backlash near the center of the axle hub.
Maximum: 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch)
If the backlash exceeds the maximum, replace the bearing.
d. Using a dial indicator, check the deviation at the surface of the axle hub outside the hub bolt.
Maximum: 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch)
If the deviation exceeds the maximum, replace the bearing.
e. Install the disc, brake caliper and 2 bolts.
Torque: 47 Nm (475 kgf-cm, 34 ft. lbs.)





3. REMOVE DRIVE SHAFT LOCK NUT
a. Remove the cotter pin and lock cap.
b. While applying the brakes, remove the nut.
Torque: 216 Nm (2,200 kgf-cm, 159 ft. lbs.)
c. Remove the 2 bolts, brake caliper and disc.
Torque: 47 Nm (475 kgf-cm, 34 ft. lbs.)
d. Support the brake caliper securely.
4. REMOVE ABS SPEED SENSOR
Remove the bolt and ABS speed sensor from the axle carrier.
Torque: 20 Nm (200 kgf-cm,14 ft. lbs.)
5. DISASSEMBLE PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY





6. DISCONNECT PARKING BRAKE CABLE
Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect parking brake cable from the backing plate.
Torque: 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.)





7. LOOSEN 2 BOLTS ON LOWER SIDE OF SHOCK ABSORBER

HINT: Do not remove the 2 bolts and nuts.

Torque: 255 Nm (2,600 kgf-cm, 188 ft. lbs.)





8. DISCONNECT STRUT ROD
a. Remove the strut rod rear bolt and nut.
Torque: 123 Nm (1,250 kgf-cm, 91 ft. lbs.)

HINT: At the time of installation, after stabilizing the suspension, torque the bolt.

b. Disconnect the strut rod from the axle carrier.





9. DISCONNECT NO. 1 LOWER SUSPENSION ARM
a. Remove the No. 1 lower suspension arm set bolt and nut from the axle carrier.
Torque: 177 Nm (1,800 kgf-cm, 131 ft. lbs.)

HINT: At the time of installation, after stabilizing the suspension, torque the bolt.

b. Disconnect the No. 1 lower suspension arm from the axle carrier.
10. DISCONNECT NO. 2 LOWER SUSPENSION ARM
a. Remove the No. 2 lower suspension arm set bolt and nut from the axle carrier.
Torque: 177 Nm (1,800 kgf-cm, 131 ft. lbs.)

HINT: At the time of installation, after stabilizing the suspension, torque the bolt.

b. Disconnect the No.2 lower suspension arm from the axle carrier.
11. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB WITH CARRIER
a. Remove the 2 nuts and bolts on the lower side of the shock absorber.
b. Remove the axle carrier with the axle hub.

NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the boot, oil seal and ABS speed sensor rotor.

INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
AFTER INSTALLATION, CHECK ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL AND REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT
