INTRODUCTION
To improve customer satisfaction by reducing interior squeaks and rattles, the following repair procedures have been developed.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
- 1999 RX 300s.
REQUIRED TOOLS & MATERIALS
WARRANTY INFORMATION
Perform the repairs listed as necessary to address specific customer concerns over interior squeaks and rattles.
APPLICABLE WARRANTY*:
This repair is covered under the Lexus Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's complaint.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
Instrument Panel Front Clip Rubbing Noise
To reduce noise caused by rubbing between the Dash Attaching Clip and the Cowl, wrap felt (W: 14 mm, T: 1 mm) from the Interior Noise Kit (P/N 08231-00801) around the clip as shown.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
Instrument Panel Vinyl Leather Side End Rubbing Noise
To reduce noise caused by rubbing between the Instrument Panel Vinyl material and the Front Pillar Garnish, cut off the end of the vinyl material as shown.

Driver's Side Lower Finish Panel Buzz Noise
To reduce a buzz noise caused by (1) freeplay of the Data Link Connector # 3 (DLC3) to the lower part of the panel; (2) freeplay of the Clip Insert located in the upper part of the panel, attach pieces of felt, sizes: (1) W: 3 mm, T: 0.5 mm and (2) W: 7 mm, T: 1 mm, from the Interior Noise Kit (P/N 08231-00801) to (1) the back side of the panel where the DLC3 Connector attaches to the panel, and (2) the Clip Insert as shown in the illustration.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
Steering Wheel Buzz Noise
To reduce a buzz noise caused by Horn Spring Vibration at the Horn Switch points, readjust the Horn Springs by turning the Steering Wheel, and bending the Horn Switch points as shown in the illustration.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
Antenna Cable Rubbing Noise
To reduce a rubbing noise between the Antenna Cable and the Windshield Glass, move the cable to the position as shown in the illustration.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
Roof Console Box Rattle Noise
To reduce a rattle noise caused by interference between the Roof Console Box and the Sliding Roof Drive Gear, attach a piece of felt (L: 50 mm, W: 30 mm, T: 1 mm) from the Interior Noise Kit (P/N 08231-00801) to the back side of the roof console box as shown in the illustration.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
Front Seat Headrest Rattle Noise
To reduce a rattle noise caused by Headrest Support freeplay, wrap the Headrest Supports with thin pieces of masking tape as shown in the illustration.
