On-Vehicle Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove drain plug and drain Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF).
Torque: 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
2. Remove oil pan, as follows:
REMOVAL NOTICE: Some fluid will remain in the oil pan.
a. Remove the 19 bolts.
Torque: 7.4 Nm (65 inch lbs.).
b. Install the blade of Special Service Tool (SST) 09032-00100 or equivalents, between the transmission case and oil pan, cut off applied sealer, and remove the oil pan.
REMOVAL NOTICE: When removing the oil pan, be careful not to damage the oil pan flange.
INSTALLATION NOTE: After removing all the old Formed In Place Gasket (FIPG) on the contacting surfaces of the oil pan and transmission case, apply new FIPG to the oil pan.
FIPG: THREE BOND 1281 or equivalent.
3. When replacing three shift solenoid valves, proceed as follows:
a. Disconnect the connectors from the solenoid valves.
b. Remove the three solenoid valve mounting bolts.
Torque: 10 Nm (84 inch lbs.).
c. Remove the three solenoid valves.
INSTALLATION NOTE: Replace the used O-rings with new ones.
4. Remove oil strainer.
REMOVAL NOTICE: Be careful as some fluid will come out of the oil strainer.
Remove the four bolts, oil strainer and gaskets.
Torque: 10 Nm (84 inch lbs.).
Bolt length:
Bolt A: 16 mm (0.63 inch).
Bolt B: 20 mm (0.79 inch).
Bolt C: 28 mm (1.10 inch).
INSTALLATION NOTE: Replace the used gaskets with new ones.
5. Remove oil pipe. Pry up both pipe ends with a large screwdriver and remove the pipe.
INSTALLATION NOTICE: Make sure that the oil pipe or the magnet do not interfere with the oil pan.
6. Disconnect connectors from each solenoid valves.
7. Remove valve body, as follows:
a. Remove the 17 bolts.
Torque: 10 Nm (84 inch lbs.).
Bolt length:
Bolt A: 23 mm (0.91 inch).
Bolt B: 32 mm (1.26 inch).
INSTALLATION NOTE: Align the groove of the manual valve to the pin of the lever.
b. Disconnect the throttle cable from the cam.
c. Remove the valve body.
REMOVAL NOTICE: Be careful not to drop the check ball body and spring.
INSTALLATION NOTE: Install the check ball body and spring to the transmission case.
INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of the previous steps.
INSTALLATION NOTE: After installation, fill with ATF and check the fluid level.
